Anne of Green Gables (2026)
Ella Bagshaw had a busy season at the 2026 Canmore Summer Theatre Festival. Ella stepped into the roles of Rachel Lynde, Mr. Phillips and Doctor in Anne of Green Gables. In addition, she was also the Assistant Stage Manager for Little Women at the Festival.

Ella first connected with Pine Tree Players in 2023, and has appeared in Treasure Island, The Snow Queen, I Was a Rat and Dad Joke Intervention. “Acting is one of my favourite creative outlets, and exploring characters and the script are always a lot of fun. I love connecting with other castmates onstage and expressing myself in front of a crowd (and getting the chance to dress up in all sorts of fun costumes!).”
As an assistant stage manager, she enjoyed keeping things organized, watching the actors grow and seeing all of the behind-the-scenes work unfold. This was her first time working in stage management, and she wishes to explore this further in future productions.
Dad Joke Intervention (2025)
Through volunteering, Ella Bagshaw has learned to be a lot more organized and has seen the impact that hard work and dedication in creating art collectively can have on a community. “Volunteering has also given me a much bigger appreciation for all of the work needed to put together a production (onstage and especially offstage).” She has noticed her confidence grow so much through her volunteer work with Pine Tree Players and has become more comfortable not only addressing big groups of people, but also in everyday interactions.
Treasure Island (2025)
As someone with experience working on both sides of the production, she has noticed the importance of respect for people’s time and perspectives. Paying special attention to clear communication is key to a successful show, where everyone gets a space to be heard and express their ideas.
Hearing people laugh is what fuels her and brings her back every year! “Rehearsals are lots of fun, but nothing beats the feeling of connection with an audience. You could be onstage in front of dozens of strangers, and all it takes is one funny line and the resulting laughter for everyone to feel connected.”
Community theatre matters because it provides a supportive environment for people from all walks of life to connect, express themselves and create beautiful art.
Ella’s commitment to her craft has inspired everyone around her, and her focus on community building and constant learning is appreciated at Pine Tree Players.
