Our fledgling drag queens, kings, monsters and monarchs have been studiously preening their feathers and they are ready to take flight for the first time on our glorious Miner’s Union Hall stage.
All proceeds from the event will go to Running for Access to Gender Affirming Surgery, a locally organized fund to reduce barriers for Bow Valley locals to access gender affirming surgery.

About the Running for Access to Gender Affirming Surgery Fund
We’re raising money to help reduce financial barriers to gender-affirming surgery for trans people in Alberta. All funds raised go directly to Cerulean Surgical, where they’re held in a dedicated account that is completely separate from the clinic’s operating funds. The money can only be used for recipients selected through this fund’s lottery.
Who can apply?
The fund is open to trans people living in Alberta who are seeking top surgery through Cerulean Surgical. Because we know financial barriers often begin before surgery, people do not need to have completed or paid for a consultation to apply.
After fundraising closes, eligible applicants will be entered into a random lottery administered by Cerulean. Recipients selected through the lottery will have their consultation fee waived and then proceed through Cerulean’s standard consultation and clinical assessment process. As with every patient, they must still meet Cerulean’s normal medical requirements before surgery. We chose a lottery because we didn’t want people to have to compete by sharing their trauma or trying to prove who is “most deserving.” We felt it was the fairest and most dignified way to distribute limited funds.
Will applications be open by October 16?
Yes. Our plan is to have the lottery information and application process live by your showcase on October 16, so anyone interested will be able to learn more and register their interest.
