Childhood friends Gerda and Cei are the closest of companions. Where Cei is brash and daring, Gerda is steady and kind. When Cei’s heart is hardened by a strange enchantment, she is stolen away by the Snow Queen. Gerda must brave the elements to rescue her, embarking on a quest across the seasons. With the help of new friends she meets along the way, Gerda must find the courage to save the world from endless winter.
This play contains:
Themes of love, isolation, abuse, and violence;
Depictions of verbal abuse, pain, anxiety, panic, and grief;
Implication of self-harm; and
Presence of theatrical firearms and knives. Based in Scandinavian folklore, this modern adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale is a beautiful depiction of the power of love and is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
