James Dean is a drag king, producer, facilitator, and community organizer who has been part of Calgary’s drag community for more than 20 years. A founding member and longtime producer of Fake Mustache Drag Troupe, James has helped grow the collective from a small group of performers into one of Canada’s longest-running drag king collectives, with hundreds of artists having taken part in Fake Mustache productions over its history.
As a performer, MC, producer, and educator, James brings extensive experience in character development, live performance, event production, and mentoring emerging artists. James will co-lead the Character Development & Improv Workshop and Dress Rehearsal, helping participants move from their first character ideas to a performance that is ready for the stage.
